Combating the first global and conscious extermination of species and life on earth

Did you know about the Ethiopian wolves?

Less than 500 Ethiopian wolves exist in the wild. They are threatened by diseases transmitted by domestic dogs, habitat loss, and hunting. The Ethiopian wove is among the one million of the planet's eight million species threatened with extinction by humans. They can be saved from extinction, that’s why Endangered Species International exists!

Did you know about wild elephants in China?

In China, elephants are extinct from most parts of the country and are now confined to small population (300 maximum) in Yunnan where the species survives in three administrative units of Xishuangbanna, Simao, and Lincang.

Did you know about the primate sharp decline?

Over half of all primate species in Africa are under threat. Endangered Species International (ESI) actively protects on the ground African and Asian primates and their vital habitats. Check out our gorilla projecty in Congo, elephant project in Myanmar, or tarsier project in the Philippines.

Did you know about the Caterpillar Fungus?

The world’s most expensive fungus, Caterpillar Fungus (Ophiocordyceps sinensis), is now a threatened species. This fungus is highly valued in Traditional Chinese Medicine, where it has been used for over 2,000 years to treat many diseases including those related to the kidneys and lungs. Demand for the fungus has risen sharply since the 1990s. ESI fights illegal wildlife trade and addresses the overcollection and hunting of wildlife directly in the field.

Did you know that deforestation in the Brazilian Amazon and Asia climbed higher for the fifteenth straight month?

Deforestation in the Brazilian Amazon and Asia climbed higher for the fifteenth straight month reaching levels not seen since the mid-2000s, according to data released by Brazil’s national space research institute INPE and the United Nations. Our everyday work in the field to restore and protect countless acres of rainforest is more important than ever. Together, each month we can protect more than 10,000 acres of rainforest and plant 50,000 native tropical trees.

Conserving nature and its benefits is an imperative, not a luxury. Endangered Species International is a champion for the well-being of all living creatures and the betterment of the planet that we all share and depend upon. As more and more habitat is protected and restored, species around the world are being brought back from the brink and biodiversity thrives again. Together, we are making astonishing progress for animals and nature.
