Protecting 241 endangered species 365 days
The wildlife extinction and defaunation crisis are real. Species populations have declined by 70 percent since 1970. More than one million species are threatened from extinction. The major cause behind this current planetary crisis is habitat destruction, therefore, our work in restoring and protection wild habitats is more crucial than ever. Every day, for the last 16 years, Endangered Species International (ESI) have been protecting 241 endangered species like the great apes, forest elephant, African dwarf crocodile, Philippine tarsier, reef shark, desert tortoise, green sea turtle, cave frog and many more. ESI is a now the leading organization for protecting endangered species in many parts of the world. We will not stop saving and protecting wildlife and plants.
Protecting and expending rainforest 365 days
Tropical forests are some of the most diverse ecosystems on the planet, and scientists estimate that they have only described a small percentage of the species that live there. But forests are in big trouble. Each day is critically important for rainforest. Every day, ESI works to protect and restore rainforest in Central Africa, Amazon Basin and Southeast Asia. To protect rainforest, ESI is aggressively establishing new protected areas that will conserve forests, rivers, and lands of the indigenous people. Tribal communities urge the world to help them to protect rainforest and we must do everything to support their legitimate and most pressing vital needs. Our rainforest projects are created and deeply rooted on the ground where ESI and local communities have already protected uncountable areas of native tropical forest.
Protecting coral reef and oceans 365 days
ESI is deeply involved in protecting and restoring coral reefs. ESI has been working in many fronts to promote effective coral reef and ocean conservation via strong innovative educational activities, law enforcement, creation of effective marine protected areas, reduction of harmful pollutants and sediments flushing into oceans, and coral monitoring.
Fighting illicit wildlife trafficking 365 days
The illegal wildlife trade is a growing problem driven by several factors including subsistence, alternative medicine, accessories, and the pet trade. High demand for illicit wildlife products is threatening the existence of many of the most-endangered species. Each day, we make sure animals are left happy in the wild by conducting anti-poaching patrols, increasing conservation awareness, developing livelihood alternatives, and providing stronger enforcement tools.
Fighting the plastic pollution 365 days
Every year, around then million tons of plastic waste finds its way to our ocean. ESI work against the plastic crisis includes removing plastics from the ocean and preventing them to enter the ocean in Southeast Asia, a current hotspot for plastic pollution. We also collaborate to reach local ban of single use of plastics and support the ban of plastics at the international level. Heads of State, environment ministers and other representatives from 175 nations, endorsed a historic resolution at the UN Environment Assembly in Nairobi on March 2, 2022 to end plastic pollution, and forge an international legally binding agreement, by the end of 2024. ESI calls for a global ban on harmful and unnecessary single-use plastic items, such as vapes, cutlery and cosmetic micro plastics, and to be included in the final international legally binding agreement of 2024.
Our vision of no plastic in nature is possible. Our vision of no human threatened animals is possible. Our vison of no massive rainforest destruction is possible. Together possible. JOIN US.
